Tattoos are used in tradition and religion very commonly also used as part of a becoming of age ritual or a mark of an accomplishment. Nowadays tattoos are used to symbolize something sentimental or as an identification of a certain group. Sometimes a tattoo will symbolize times of hardship an example of this is when someone gets a tattoo of a tear on their face. An empty tear signifies that the loved one has been killed or that the bearer has unsuccessfully attempted murder.[1] A filled tattoo signifies that a loved one has taken his or her own life, or was killed by a cause other than murder. A tear with an empty top and a full bottom means that the wearer has avenged the murder of a loved one. Two famour people with tattoos like those are Little Wayne and The Game. Indian culture is made apparent through symbolism so most of the tattoos have a connection to a god or something else symbolizing part of their religion. As in many tattooing traditions it is common in India for tattoos to be applied as a becoming of age ceremony, many mothers would tattoo their daughters while they were going through puberty. Tattooing was considered more of a woman’s matter, it was even considered to be a disgrace to not have one in some parts of India.

Japan: The ultimate reward for the patience and endurance of pain would be a tattoo of immense beauty.
